About Us

Ecoshastra is the Economics Society of Sri Aurobindo College (Evening). The name "Ecoshastra" is attained by combining the two words Economics and its Hindi Translation , Arthashastra. The Society was created to distinguish itself from the societies of other colleges in the aspect of promoting Interdisciplinary dependence. Economics, being a social science aims to tackle social problems through monetary and fiscal approaches. However, Social problems inculcate issues which require, Historical, Psycological, Sociological, Philosophical attention as well. Hence Ecoshastra does not just restrict itself to Economics students, but invites students of other courses to join and find solutions to the major problems faced by the society at large. The Society also aims at imparting certain necessary economic principles to laymen which are required to understand certain economic situations prevailing in the economy.

The society also focuses on efficent research of policies and surveys.

About the College

Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) established in 1984 is a constituent College of the University of Delhi. The College has completed 27 years that charter all the phases of its growth and success. Each year of this period can be seen as a milestone in the history of this young institution. Since 1988 the college opened its doors to women students too.

The College began by offering instructions in B.A. (Prog.) andB.Com. (Prog.) Courses. Over the years courses in B.Com. (Honours), B.A. (Honours) Hindi, B.A. (Honours) Applied Psychology, B.A (Honours) Economics and B.A (Honours) English have been introduced.

A special cell for Career Guidance has been functioning in the college. Is has been successfully helping the students by providing valuable information about various career opportunities available to them.

Apart from academic excellence, the College lays an extra emphasis on the development of integrated and well rounded personalities of the students. Discipline and sincerity are the hall marks of this institution. Our alumni holding their positions in life - with responsibility, zeal and courage of conviction - vindicate our faith in the goals before us.
